First Electronic Block Instrument on Indian Railways
commissioned on 2nd March
Solid State Block Proving by Axle Counter (SSBPAC Digital) as per RDSO Spec. No. RDSO/SPN/175/2005 of EFFTRONICS is commissioned on Venkatachalam Jn. –Krishnapatnam Port (2 Block Sections) along with Doubling
These Block Instruments are different from the Block Instruments which work on
UFSBI/ MUX combiner as per RDSO/SPN/188/2004, which are based on Relay
Logic (uses more than 30 relays)
Features of the Electronic Block Instrument SSBPAC (D)
1. Convenient to Operate
· Non cooperative Type saves time in obtaining line clear compared to
SGE and DAIDO block instruments
· One block operation is reduced i.e. Block Closure takes place
automatically based on Axle Counter status after arrival of the train

2. Supports Diverse Communication Media
· Requires one pair of cable each for Block Instruments and Block Phone
· Works on Copper (Quad) Cable, Voice Channel, E1 Channel or dark fiber
